Castello San Salvatore

After all those sweet recipes that I have shared with all of you; I wanted to share one of my favorite places to burn all those calories off.. and that is in Susegana, a small picturesque city in the province of Treviso.

This is one of the places that I take all of my friends and family members that come to visit me. I highly reccomened coming here for a walk or even just a quick trip by car to see the 360 degree view of Venetian Landscape.

There are many things that I love about this Castle –

  1. A royal family still lives in the Castle.. How magical is that?
  2. The views
  3. A quick 20 minute drive from Treviso and you’ve arrived.
  4. It’s free.
  5. Vino

A few weekends ago, we decided to spend our Sunday morning which later turned into our Sunday afternoon walking amongst one of the largest castle’s in Northern Italy. And of course, I had to take a few photos and share with you all the beautiful surroundings during our walk..

Actually, towards the end of our walk, I found out that there is no vehicles allowed except for those that live near the castle. Ops. As we drove up and parked our car a little passed the castle..

We then decided to go for a walk, not knowing that later it would take us over two hours.. with a two year old ( no stroller) and two Italian miniature poodles.. haha, I laugh now..

You can see we parked our Jeep right across the street.. Less than a mile from the Castle.

On the way back up to the Castle, each tree was lined with a shrine of Madonna.

So, if you will be in Treviso for a few extra days, I highly recommend coming to check out the castle from the outside and have a walk. It is worth it. The inside is usually closed but will be held for special events such as vino in villa or if you’d like a private guided tour click this link or write to me and I can help arrange something for you.
