California Dreamin’

What a busy couple of months I have had..Before, I left for my California adventure,

I was posting photos on my blog and writing articles and keeping them as drafts and as soon as I have some me time or free time, I will post the articles.  I have had so many things to share with you all but have done so mainly on Inspired in Italy’s Facebook page.

For those of you who follow along on Inspired probably have figured out that I have finally made it back to California to visit my family and friends.  It had been almost three years since I have seen my family and felt the time was due..

Traveling with a feisty toddler, two mini poodles, 5 suitcases wasn’t an easy task and then of course there is the jet lag that seemed to linger for more than a couple of weeks.

I’ve been back for two weeks now, and am really enjoying myself for the most part, I just love seeing my mom being able to be a grandma in person instead of on FaceTime.

I am also in a state of culture shock. Wow. After going on six years in Italy, I feel more Italian than American.. I catch myself speaking in Italian with my parents, there is a lot of times when my hands are doing all the talking. You can take the girl out of Italy, but you can NOT take Italy out of the girl.

Its really beautiful in Northern California at the moment, hills are covered in wildflowers and I thought it was a perfect opportunity to have some shoots done of my son by a professional photographer who also happens to be my brother. If you think my photographs of Italy are good, you should check out his. Have you ever tried taking photos of a feisty almost three year old/ Let me tell you, I’ve got  a new admiration for photographers including my brother, Randy. Luca was just terrible aha, fussy, cranky, tired, curious, and wanted nothing to do with sitting or standing in one spot to capture that perfect photo, yet he captured a perfect photo of our ever joyous boy. This is only a sneak peek, more to come.

Flashes of delight

All photos have been taken by Randal James Beiriger.

Don’t forget to check out Randal’s website for his stupendous photos of Italy and also other parts of the world as well as weddings, and other events.

Have you ever been to California/ Would love to hear where in California you’ve been or if you live here.

  1. Hi Emily~I live in Petaluma while spending half my life reading blogs, books, etc. about Italy. I know I’m going back to Italy – so much of Italy I haven’t seen yet. I cannot imagine traveling with a 3yr. old, two dogs and luggage. You’re a warrior! Hope your time here is splendid…please let me know if you’re coming to Petaluma. I’d love to meet you.
